The series also introduces Mary, his first daughter who eventually takes the thrown and is known as Bloody Mary due to her policies and laws and the resulting murders of many who disobeyed them. Throughout the series the paranoia becomes more and more prevalent causing him to distrust everyone around him especially his wives, advisors and at times his own children. This was played well by Johnathan Rhys Meyers. Henry VIII was famously paranoid especially in the years leading to his death.
